Shanghai (ZXZC)- BMW Brilliance released its 2017 financial results on Mar. 28, saying it earned profit of RMB 10.4754 billion last year with a YoY increase of 31%. It delivered 386,594 vehicles last year, jumping 24.7% compared to the same period of the previous year. Among them, the BMW 3 Series, the X1 and the 2 Series saw solid sales growth in 2017.

As to specific models, sales of the BMW 3 Series, X1 and 2 Series reached 123,700 units, 91,307 units and 15,801 units respectively in 2017, up 27.4%, 66.3% and 9.7% year on year respectively. However, sales of the BMW 5 Series totaled 121,025 units, down 15.7% over the previous year. In addition, sales of the all-new BMW 1 Series sedan reached 34,716 units in 2017.

Apart from products, BMW Brilliance has been dedicated to improving production capacity. After expanding production capacity of its two plants in Shenyang, BMW Brilliance has reached an annual production capacity of more than 500,000 units. The expansion of new plants creates necessary conditions for the local production of the sixth BMW model (the all-new BMW X3), and hence accelerates the pace of BMW's localization in China. In the meantime, BMW Brilliance continues to expand its dealership network. By the end of 2017, the number of BMW dealership 4S stores totaled 506 across China.

BMW Brilliance also makes active  deployment in new energy field. On July 13, 2017, BWM Brilliance's new R&D center at its Tiexi plant completed construction. The operation of the new R&D center marks China has become the largest R&D center for BMW outside of Germany. BMW will develop and research its new NEV models at this new center. In addition, BMW Brilliance's Shenyang power battery center also started operation in October, 2017. It will produce battery packs for the PHEV version of the all-new 5 Series (the G38) and also prepares for the local production of the BMW X3.
