Ford Motor, Datang Telecom Group conduct C-V2X test in Shanghai

Shanghai (ZXZC)- According to local media, Ford Motor teamed up with Datang Telecom Group (Datang) to carry out C-V2X (Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything) test in China. As a wireless communication technology, C-V2X is expected to play an important role in future intelligent-connected area to enhance vehicle safety and improve traffic efficiency.

The automaker announced in November last year that it joined hands with Qualcomm, AT&T and Nokia to conduct C-V2X test in the U.S. The cooperation between Ford Motor and Datang will further promote the development and application of C-V2X worldwide.

The testing project was initiated at the end of 2017 for the purpose of further analyzing C-V2X technical performance and achieving its application. The project is mainly to evaluate the application potential of C-V2X which can build connection between urban wireless communication infrastructures and vehicles. Besides, the C-V2X technology is able to help enhance vehicles' abilities of cognition and perception to the surroundings, even under confusing crossroads scenarios or bad weather, so as to promptly respond to and handle accidents by virtue of forming connection between vehicles and pedestrians or cyclists.

The test will be implemented at the National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (ICV) (Shanghai) Pilot Zone, the first ICV pilot zone in China. Before the test started, Datang did plentiful R&D businesses of LTE-V2X which is considered the first technical phase of C-V2X technology.

In addition, both parties will carry out the evaluation job in line with the uniform industrial testing regulation of 5GAA (5G Automotive Association). China has currently become a leading developer of 5G technology in the world and takes a lot of measures to uphold the ICV infrastructure construction.
