Huawei-backed Aito launches Ultra series for M7 SUV, expects to deliver 20,000 units in Jun

Aito said it expects to deliver 20,000 units of the M7 Ultra in June, which is expected to take the total deliveries of the Aito brand to 40,000 units in a single month.

Aito, the new energy vehicle (NEV) brand backed by Chinese tech giant Huawei, has launched the Ultra range for the M7 SUV (sport utility vehicle), less than a year after a major update to the model.

Aito rolled out the M7 Ultra at a launch event yesterday offering two five-seat options as well as two six-seat options at starting prices of RMB 289,800 ($40,020), RMB 309,800, RMB 309,800, RMB 329,800 respectively.

Deliveries of the M7 Ultra will begin on June 2 and are expected to reach 20,000 units in June, which in turn is expected to bring the Aito brand to 40,000 units delivered in a single month, Aito said.

Aito is a premium car brand launched by Seres in association with Huawei on December 2, 2021, and has already released models including the Aito M5, Aito M7, and Aito M9.

The Aito M7 was initially launched on July 4, 2022. On September 12, 2023, Huawei launched the updated M7 at one of its product events.

The previously available new M7 is also offered in five-seater and six-seater versions, including the Plus and Max series, with a starting price range of RMB 249,800 to RMB 329,800.

The dimensions of the M7 Ultra remain unchanged, with length, width and height of 5,020 mm, 1,945 mm and 1,760 mm respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.

The M7 Ultra is only available in extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants, as is the case with the Plus and Max ranges, and not in a battery electric vehicle (BEV) variant, while Aito's other two models, the M5 and the M9, are both available in EREV and BEV versions.

The M7 Ultra is available in single-motor and dual-motor versions, with the single-motor variants featuring a motor with a maximum power of 200 kW and a maximum torque of 360 Nm, and is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds.

The dual-motor versions feature a front motor with 130 kW and 300 Nm of torque and a rear motor with 200 kW and 360 Nm of torque, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.

The battery packs used in the M7 Ultra are all 42 kWh Li-ion ternary batteries capable of delivering a CLTC battery range of 240 km or 210 km. At full fuel and charge, the model has a combined CLTC range of 1,300 km or 1,250 km.

The Ultra series uses a LiDAR with 192 laser channels that supports Huawei's assisted driving system ADS 2.0 and will be able to upgrade to Huawei ADS 3.0.

The Plus series of the M7 does not carry LiDAR, while the Max series carries a LiDAR with 126 laser channels.

The M7 Ultra received more than 6,000 firm orders within an hour of launch, Aito said yesterday.
