Xpeng delivers 10,146 cars in May, highest year-to-date
The X9 MPV delivered 1,625 vehicles in May, contributing 16 percent of Xpeng's monthly deliveries.
Launched on January 1, the X9 is the flagship model under the architecture of Xpeng's SEPA (Smart Electric Platform Architecture) 2.0.
The seven-seat MPV has a starting price of RMB 359,800 ($49,680), with deliveries beginning on January 16.
Xpeng chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng personally delivered an X9 to William Li, founder, chairman and CEO of Nio (NYSE: NIO), in Hefei, Anhui province, on May 11, Li's first purchase of a vehicle from another brand in eight years.
In May, the monthly active user penetration rate of XNGP (Xpeng navigation guided pilot) in urban driving scenarios reached 84%, the company said.
As of May, Xpeng's R&D team had certified more than 6.46 million kilometers of XNGP road tests, closer to achieving XNGP's full nationwide road coverage by the third quarter of this year, it said.
On May 20, Xpeng officially announced the full-scale rollout of its AI in-vehicle operating system, XOS 5.1.0, or AI Tianji OS, to eligible users at the AI Day event.
The release highlights Xpeng's leading position in the application of end-to-end AI models in China's automotive industry, as well as the world's first AI Valet Driver utilizing advanced AI technology, it said.
