Faraday Future Hanford plant starts construction

Shanghai (ZXZC)- According to local media, the electric vehicle (EV) startup Faraday Future (FF) in which Jia Yueting hold position as CEO officially started the construction of its plant located in Hanford, California.

In August last year, FF reportedly announced to stop building the plant located in North Las Vegas, Nevada and shifted the plant to another place with more mature conditions so as to shorten the construction cycle. Hanford is where the new plant is located.

The Hanford plant, covering an area of 1 million square feet (around 93 thousand square meters), will provide a total of 1300 jobs once it is fully put into operation, according to the reports of that moment.

However, in the past several months, the facility in Hanford had not started construction after FF announced its location, which raised the suspicion that the plant will follow the tracks of the factory in Nevada.

Previously, FF had planned to build a plant in North Las Vegas, Nevada with an area of 920 acre (around 3.7 million square meters), involving a planned investment of $1.375 billion. Besides, FF promised to offer 4,000 local posts once the plant is completed. In addition, Nevada government also showed that it would provide the plant-building project with subsidiaries and tax preferences of over $300 million as long as FF's investment in the plant is over $ 1 billion.

After that, FF was haunted by negative news like defaulting on suppliers' payments and various lawsuits, etc. Additionally, Nevada government officials reprimanded FF for the suspicion of setting the Ponzi scheme. FF finally announced in July last year that it would terminate the EV plant construction in Nevada.

Apart from building plant in U.S., some news reveals that Jia Yueting likely has a blueprint to select a location in Guangzhou for building another plant. Reportedly, the Ruichi Intelligent Car (Guangzhou) Co.,Ltd, registered in Guangzhou on February 12 this year, may have some connections with FF. The newly registered company's shareholder is SMART MOBILITY (HONG KONG) HOLDINGS LIMITED who formerly used the name of FF Hong Kong Holdings Limited.
