BYD Mar sales breakdown: Song 78,490 units, Qin 40,569
The Yangwang brand delivered 1,090 vehicles in March, while Fang Cheng Bao delivered 3,550 units.
BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDF) today reported strong new energy vehicle (NEV) sales for March, followed by breakdown figures showing the performance of different brands and models.
BYD's NEVs include passenger NEVs and commercial NEVs, with the former including different brands including BYD, Denza, Yangwang and Fang Cheng Bao.
The group sold 302,459 NEVs in March, including 301,631 passenger cars and 828 commercial vehicles.
The BYD brand of passenger cars, which includes the Dynasty and Ocean series, sold 286,712 units in March, up 46.51 percent year-on-year and up 151.37 percent from February.
The premium Denza brand sold 10,279 units in March, down 1.14 percent year-on-year while up 123.55 percent from February.
Denza's March sales included 10,036 units of the D9 MPV, 173 units of the N7 SUV, and 70 units of the N8 SUV.
BYD's personalized sub-brand, Fang Cheng Bao, delivered 3,550 vehicles in March. Fang Cheng Bao's first model, the Bao 5, was officially launched on 9 November 2023 and deliveries began on 23 November.
The Yangwang brand delivered 1,090 vehicles in March. The BYD ultra-luxury sub-brand launched its first model, the U8, on September 20, 2023, with deliveries beginning on November 24.
The U8, which has a starting price of RMB 1,098,000 ($151,860), delivered 3,522 units in January-March.
The U9, the second model under the Yangwang brand, was launched on February 25 with a starting price of RMB 1.68 million.
Among BYD-branded models, the Song family continued to rank as the top-selling BYD model with 78,490 units sold in March. This represents a 93.75 percent year-on-year increase and a 122.52 percent increase from February.
The Song family models on sale include the Song L, Song Pro DM-i, and Song Max DM-i of the Dynasty series, and the Song Plus EV and Song Plus DM-i of the Ocean series.
BYD's Dynasty series of Song models sold 36,921 units in March, up 144.51 percent from 15,100 units in February.
Its Ocean series of Song models sold 41,569 units in March, up 106.06 percent from 20,173 in February.
The BYD Qin family of models continued to be the second best-selling BYD model with 40,569 units sold in March. This is down 0.69 percent year-on-year while up 150.57 percent from February.
The Seagull was the third highest selling BYD model with 34,830 units sold in March, up 158.15 percent from February.
The BYD Seagull was launched on April 26, 2023, at a starting price of RMB 73,800, making it the cheapest BYD model.
On March 6, BYD launched the Seagull Glory Edition with a starting price of RMB 69,800, RMB 4,000, or 5.42 percent, lower than before.
The BYD Yuan family sold 32,806 units in March, down 18.80 percent year-on-year but up 282.22 percent from February.
The BYD Chaser 05 sold 28,964 units in March, up 640.58 percent year-on-year and up 307.37 percent from February.
The Dolphin sold 21,048 units in March, down 30.02 percent year-on-year but up 53.36 percent from February.
The BYD Han family sold 20,013 units in March, up 47.70 percent year-on-year and up 160.65 percent from February.
The BYD Tang sold 14,079 units in March, up 16.04 percent year-on-year and up 162.82 percent from February.
BYD Seal sold 13,443 units in March, up 124.05 percent year-on-year and up 146.80 percent from February.
BYD e2 sold 1,300 units in March, up 202.33 percent from February.
BYD Frigate 07 sold 1,170 units in March, down 85.64 percent year-on-year but up 51.16 percent from February.
