Geely-backed Caocao Zhuanche launches trial operation in Beijing
Shanghai (ZXZC)- According to local media, the Geely-backed ride-hailing platform Caocao Zhuanche has already launched hundreds of vehicles in Beijing to execute its toe-in-the-water operation after it announced to roll into the capital of the country in January.
A driver from the platform revealed that there may be 130 vehicles owned by Caocao Zhuanche in Beijing. According to the official response, Caocao Zhuanche has less than 300 vehicle in Beijing City among which most of them are operated inside Beijing third ring road.
An insider from Caocao Zhuanche introduced that currently, around 50% users’ orders can be received on the platform , even only 20% during the peak hours because the city is too big, while the scale of operating vehicles is relatively small.
The insufficient transport capacity is mainly limited by the shortage of license plates. Last year, the Caocao Zhuanche obtained the operation license issued by Beijing government that allows the platform to provide ride-hailing services. However, its operating vehicles, as a part of the company’s assets, have not been assigned license plates by authorities.
People are willing to spend more time to wait drivers receiving their orders partly because they can enjoy higher subsidiaries. In January, when the platform announced to march into Beijing market, it promoted a special offer of 70% discount per order with the discount up to RMB25. Until now, this special offer has still continued.
Invested by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, Caocao Zhuanche is the only platform focusing on new energy vehicles among all ride-hailing platforms in China. Liu Jinliang, CEO of Caocao Zhuanche stated in an interview that recruiting and training drivers are needed under the B2C (business to customer) operation model. In addition, the connection and supply of charging piles should be ensured to conduct the new energy vehicle operational mode.
