Borgward sets up NEV marketing department, appoints You Jia as sales director

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Borgward announced the establishment of a NEV marketing department of its sales company on May 8, together with the appointment of You Jia and Fan Jun, who will serve as director of NEV marketing department and sales director of Borgward Sales Company.

The NEV marketing department will be responsible for the NEV-related businesses, internet businesses including e-commerce and big-data cooperation, and will actively explore new business modes, like financial leasing and sharing mobility.

You Jia, who once served at multi-national automakers like Nissan and GM, as well as several brand communication institutions, will take charge of the whole businesses of Borgward's NEV models and will lead Borgward's NEV strategy to go upscale. In the meantime, he will lead Borgward to integrate Internet, e-commerce, big data, and connected vehicle into the company's businesses.

Fan Jun, a veteran in sales and product planning, once was employed at FAW-Toyota Sales Company, FAW Sales Company and China FAW Group Import & Export Co., Ltd., etc. He will be in charge of the marketing for Borgward's model products, helping Borgward to complete its 2018 sales target. 

Currently, Borgward boasts an annual production capacity of 180,000 units and owns two models available in market, the BX5 and BX7. According to Borgward, the automaker intends to shift the production of 80,000 commercial vehicles out of its original annual capacity of 180,000 units, and will produce another 80,000 passenger vehicles. What's more, Borgward is going to add a production capacity of 180,000 NEVs, which will enable the automaker to reach an overall production capacity of 360,000 units (including 153,000 gasoline-powered vehicles and 207,000 NEVs) annually. 

In terms of production planning, Borgward plans to release more than 10 new NEV models by 2022, covering SUV, sedan and crossover. Borgward also stated that it will launch at least two new models per year, which will offer traditional fuel-powered version and NEV version.
