107 Chinese cities use NEV license plates
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Beijing started to use exclusive license plates for NEVs on Dec. 28, according to the Ministry of Public Security (MPS). As of now, 107 Chinese cities across 31 provinces have piolted the exclusive license plates for NEVs. In the first half of 2018, China will start to use exclusive license plates for NEVs nationwide. Up to now, China had distributed 265,700 exclusive license plates for NEVs. Among them, the number of pure electric vehicle plates reached 189,500, and the number of other fuel cell vehicles and hybrid vehicle plates reached 76,200.
As is depicted, the new license plate is colored green and added with exclusive marks. Besides, it adopts a new design style, new materials, a new technique and new anti-forgery technology, which enable the NEVs to be easily recognized and managed. In specific, exclusive license plates for small-size NEVs are ombre green, exclusive license plates for large-size NEVs are yellow and green. Compared with five Arabic numerals on ordinary license plates, exclusive license plates for NEVs will have six Arabic numerals.
According to the statistics, China's NEV parc reached 1,440,000 by far. In accordance with the Energy-Saving and New Energy Development Plan (2012-2020) issued by the State Council, the output and sales of pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles will reach over 5,000,000 units by 2020. Collaborating with other related governmental departments, police offices in all cities will promote system upgrade and mechanism adjustment, help carry out preferential measures, improve relevant policy system and implement the differentiated convenience policies, such as no traffic restriction for NEVs.
