Changan ambitious to sell 80,000 NEVs next year

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Under the impetus of policies, new energy vehicles are listed in future plans by major auto companies. Among them, Changan Automobile announced Project Shangri-La this year which covers the company’s new energy vehicle plan. News from the Beijing Environmental Protection Bureau said that Changan will expand the existing new energy and trial workshop in Beijing factory. At the launching ceremony of Changan Raeton CC, Gong Bing, vice president of Changan, said that they targets 80,000-unit sales of its new energy vehicle next year.

The expansion is for the company’s new energy plant located in Fangshan, Beijing. The project invests RMB 439,020,000 to expand 6255 square meters to the existing new energy and trial workshop, and increase 205 sets of processing equipment and 500 new staff. Technological transformation and production efficiency improvement are aimed at the four existing technical aspects of stamping, welding, painting and assembly. On the basis of the appropriate extension of working hours, the auto company attempts to increase its annual capacity by 160,000 vehicles per year, from the current 200,000 up to 360,000 vehicles each year.

According to Project Shangri-La, Changan will build up three platforms for new energy vehicles by 2020, and will launch 21 new battery electric vehicles as well as 12 plug-in hybrid products. Meanwhile the automaker aims to end sales of traditional fuel oil car by 2025.

Currently, the auto company has launched Changan Benben EV, Changan CS15 EV and EADO EV300 and other new energy vehicles. Since January this year, Changan new energy vehicle sales have been increasing by more than 27% for 11 consecutive months, with an average monthly growth rate of 58%. As of the end of November, the cumulative sales of new energy vehicles of Changan reached 49,432 units, an increase of 164.64% over the 18,679 units of the same period of last year.

Changan new energy sales target has been reached this year, and Changan sets its next-year goal for 60,000, and strives for another 20,000 units. According to Changan new energy product planning, two new energy models will be launched in 2018, while the expansion and upgrade of new energy production lines will equip Changan with production capacity of 160,000 units per year.
