BAIC BJEV Jiangshan base aims to produce 80,000 NEVs in 2017
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Jiangshan Town, located in Shandong province, is actively engaging in making the largest domestic NEV industrial ecosphere. “Facing the great environment and energy challenges, developing NEV has become global consensus and China even lists NEV into strategic emerging industry.” Zhang Xianjie, Party Secretary of Jiangshan Town introduced that Jiangshan Town will accelerate fostering NEV industry ecosphere with the aim to strengthen the main industry, stretching supply chain, decreasing cost and lifting value chain.
Supported by the town and municipal governments, the first phase project of BAIC Jiangshan Base successfully started production in August, 2015. BAIC BJEV Jiangshan Base obtained first domestic NEV production certificate in May, 2016. Xu Heyi, Board Chairman of BAIC Group praised that Jiangshan Base first phase project has the fastest construction speed and most complete procedures among all group projects. BAIC Group conducted industrial base first phase transformation and upgrade project at the first half of this year, enlarging its capacity from 50,000 units to 100,000 units and making it an industrial base of combining welding, painting and assembly. The 40,000th vehicle rolled off linefrom the first-phase base in June this year.
It’s also guaranteed that Jiangshan Base NEV production volume will be at least 60,000 units this year and sprint for 80,000 units with an expected total production value exceeding RMB 6 billion. The base’s second-phase project, with a total investment of RMB 4 billion and an area of 170,000 square meters, is also accelerating construction process, with the main assembly plant being completed and on trial in November this year.
