China Ministry of Transport formulates driverless tech planning

Shanghai (ZXZC)- On February 7, Li Xiaopeng, Minister of China's Ministry of Transport revealed at a conference that the Ministry is formulating a technical regulation about driverless vehicle operations and has already started building a testing base. Meanwhile, it unites with other relevant departments to draw up guidance documents of driverless vehicle test.

Li Xiaopeng stated that driverless technology is a superior phase to autonomous driving. It integrates a series of modern technologies, such as communication, Internet and new energy technologies. Up to now, it has made breakthroughs and materialized application in self-piloting ships, automatic rail transit system. In the meantime, it also has obtained some breakthoughs in autonomous vehicles.

According to Li, some experts of the industry consider that the autonomous driving technologies or driverless technologies can enhance the driving and traffic safety.
