Skoda to roll out 3 new SUV models in China 2018

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Skoda plans to roll out 3 all-new SUV models in China this year.

Karoq, launched at 2017 Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition, will go on sales in March ahead of other two models this year. The vehicle is equipped with a 1.2T turbocharged engine which can deliver a rated output power of 85KW and gives the vehicle a combined fuel consumption of 5.8L/100km. As a front-wheel-drive model, Karoq is paired with a dual clutch transmission. Another version is powered by a 1.4T turbocharged engine with a rated output power of 110KW which records a combined fuel consumption of 6L/100km and mated with a dual clutch transmission.

Apart from Karoq, another two all-new models will be released this year. One is a small-sized SUV which has already been declared. This model carries a 1.5L engine delivering a maximum output power of 81KW. It is expected to be manufactured in SAIC VW’s Anting plant in Shanghai and go on sales in the second quarter this year. Meanwhile, Skoda will promote a “coupe” version of Kodiaq SUV model called Kodiaq GT in China this year which will become the Skoda's flagship SUV model.

2017 was the best year in Skoda's history in China. Skoda delivered 325,000 vehicles to Chinese customers last year with a year-on-year sales growth of 2.5% which accounted for 27% of Skoda global sales. December was also the brand’s best month of all time in China, delivering 42,400 vehicles, up 41.8% from the same month in 2016.
