Chinese electric vehicle (EV) startup Leapmotor saw record deliveries last month, after it had a small drop in deliveries in August.

Leapmotor delivered a record 15,800 vehicles in September, up 43.13 percent year-on-year and up 11.35 percent from 14,190 in August, according to data it released today.

In the third quarter, Leapmotor delivered a record 44,325 vehicles, up 24.48 percent year-on-year and up 30.39 percent from the second quarter.

So far this year, the company has delivered 88,827 vehicles, up 1.4 percent from 87,602 in the same period last year.

At the end of September, Leapmotor had delivered 250,496 vehicles since its inception, data monitored by CnEVPost showed.

Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Zhejiang province, Leapmotor's models on sale include the mini EV T03, coupe model S01, flagship SUV C11, and flagship sedan C01.

The company's sales were previously contributed mainly by the cheap EV T03, but it is getting the more expensive C-series models to contribute more sales so far this year by launching extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) models.

Leapmotor's founder, Zhu Jiangming, said after announcing the company's third-quarter results on November 14, 2022, that all of the company's models on the C platform, as well as new platforms in the future, will have both BEV and EREV versions.

The company's deliveries plummeted in the first quarter of the year and fell to just 1,139 units in January. However, with the launch of the EREV variant of the C11 on March 1, its monthly deliveries have risen sharply over the past few months.

On September 20, Leapmotor launched an EREV variant for its flagship sedan, the C01, available in three versions with starting prices of RMB 145,800 ($19,970), RMB 158,800, and RMB 169,800 respectively.

The C01 EREV is powered by battery packs with a capacity of up to 43.7 kWh, providing a CLTC battery range of up to 316 kilometers. At full fuel and full charge, the model has a combined CLTC range of up to 1,276 kilometers.
