China September New Energy Passenger Vehicle Sales Surge 90% Year on Year to 58,217 Units
Shanghai (ZXZC)- According to data released by China Passenger Car Association, China new energy passenger vehicle sales reached 58,217 units in September, with a surge of 90 percent year on year and an increase of 10 percent month on month. By the end of September, China has sold a total of 312,344 new energy passenger vehicles in 2017, 48 percent more than the same period of 2016.
BEV remained the sales driver. Last month, BEV sales were 45,562 units, soaring 97 percent when compared with the same month of last year. Besides, BEV sales accounted for 78 percent of the total new energy passenger vehicle volume. BEV car segment had a proportion of 85 percent while SUV and MPV had a respective proportion of 12 percent and 3 percent.
Recently, thanks to the idea to speed the development of hybrid vehicles, PHEV achieved a year-on-year growth of 70 percent last month to 12,655 units, among which cars took up 47 percent and SUV took up 53 percent. BYD had a superior position in PHEV market while Roewe eRX5 also had a good sales performance. Regionally, Shanghai had an obvious advantage over other region and places without purchase restriction had a tendency to make breakthrough.
By segment, pure electric A00-class models were main sales drivers in September. Last month, this segment had a delivery of about 30,000 units, jumping 316 percent year on year and accounting for 65 percent of pure electric vehicle sales. BAIC EC 180, Geely Zhidou and Chery EQ boasted outstanding sales performance.
Meanwhile,A-class sold well in cities with purchase restrictions. September saw the sales of 10,000 pure electric A-class vehicles and 11,000 plug-in hybrid electric A-class vehicles. Last month, the industry only delivered 5,731 A0-class vehicles.
