Xpeng's deliveries improve further to 11,008 in Jul, G6 delivers over 3,900 units
Strong sales of the G6 drove a surge in showroom visits, which in turn increased customer enthusiasm for other Xpeng models and the smart technologies they come with, the company said.
Xpeng's (NYSE: XPEV) monthly deliveries continued to improve, as capacity for its new SUV model, the G6, climbed.
The electric vehicle maker delivered 11,008 vehicles in July, up 27.70 percent from 8,620 in June, though 4.48 percent below the same month last year, according to data released today.
This is the sixth sequential increase in monthly deliveries for Xpeng, after the figure fell to 5,218 units in January this year.
In July, G6 deliveries exceeded 3,900 units, Xpeng said, adding that the strong sales momentum of the G6 drove a surge in showroom visits, which in turn increased customer enthusiasm for other models and the advanced smart technology it comes with.
Xpeng is committed to increasing production of the G6, with its manufacturing facilities running at full capacity, and has also added dedicated logistics resources to ensure speedy delivery of the G6, it said.
In the January-July period, Xpeng delivered 52,443 vehicles, a decrease of 34.86 percent year-on-year.
By the end of July, Xpeng had delivered a cumulative total of 311,153 vehicles since its inception, data monitored by CnEVPost showed.
Xpeng officially launched the G6 in China on June 29, with its first deliveries beginning on July 10.
Despite the good initial acceptance of the G6, Xpeng still faces the challenge of ramping up production capacity.
Customers have been very enthusiastic about the G6, and those who have ordered it had to wait about 10 weeks, Xpeng vice chairman and president Brain Gu told English-language media including CnEVPost in an online conference on the evening of July 5.
Xpeng is hoping for shorter and shorter lead times for the G6, but right now there's still a capacity climb for the model, Gu said at the time.
He also mentioned that the G6 has received a large number of orders, which helped Xpeng see monthly deliveries reach 15,000 units in the third quarter and 20,000 units in the fourth quarter.
On July 7, He Xiaopeng, Xpeng's chairman and CEO, said in a Weibo post that Xpeng held a meeting with its suppliers and wanted them to do their best to secure parts supply and accelerate delivery efficiency.
"Our production line is running at full speed in an effort to deliver the car to everyone as early as possible," he said.
