Great Wall only completes 85.6% annual sales target
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Great Wall Motor Co.,Ltd (Great Wall) announced that, it sold 125,585 vehicles in December, 2017, falling by 16.58% year on year. Great Wall reached an annual sales volume of 1,070,161 units, slightly shrinking by 0.4% from a year earlier, which completed 85.6% of its 2017 initial annual sales target of 1,250,000 units.
As to its two major brands, 851,855 units of Haval SUV were sold throughout 2017. WEY’s December sales reached 21,349 units, increasing 4.3% from the previous month.
From statistics, December sales of SUV decreased 19.32% from a year earlier to 110,142 units, falling by 6.4% compared with November. 938,282 units of SUV were sold throughout 2017, slightly increasing 0.03% from a year earlier. Haval SUV reached a sales volume of 88,793 units in December, 2017, shrinking by 34.96% year on year and falling 8.66% from the previous month. Although, Haval SUV’s sales were reduced in December, thanks to the outstanding sales performance of WEY’s VV5 and VV7 in December, the December sales volume of all SUVs were close to the previous month. After VV7’s sales surpassing 10 thousands in November, 10,551 units were sold in December, increasing 3.61% compared with November. Besides, VV5’s December sales rose 5.07% from the previous month to 10,798 units, still outnumbering VV7 in the same month.
Meanwhile, Great Wall’s pickup obtained an impressive sales performance last year. Accounting for 11.02% of overall December sales, Fengjun pickup’s sales increased 16.11% year on year to 13,840 units, rising 17.52% compared with its November sales.
As to sedans, 1,603 units of C30 were sold in December, 2017, basically remaining flat compared with November, while still considerably decreasing 23.88% from a year earlier.
Down to models, Haval H6’s December sales were up 1.9% compared with November to 55,126 units, however slumping 31.52% year on year. Haval SUV M6’s sales were down 16.77% from the previous month to 8,372 units and H9’s sales reached 2,045 units in December with a year-on-year growth rate of 36.7%. The sales of other Haval models all met different decreases. H2’s sales had exceeded 20 thousands in November, only one month after, its sales were reduced to 18,092 units.
According to Great Wall, it has set the 2018 annual sales target of 1,160,000 units with an 8% year-on-year growth rate based on its 2017 performance. With the improvement of product portfolio and its risk resistance capacity, there are still reasons to expect a promising marketing performance of Great Wall in 2018.
