Neta to begin deliveries of electric sports car Neta E in H1 2023
Neta E will be the first real sports car that young people in China can own, and it will be mass-produced and delivered in the first half of 2023, Hozon Auto CEO said.
Neta is currently targeting mainly the cheap electric vehicle (EV) market, with the company currently delivering the Neta V and Neta U for around 100,000 yuan ($14,370).
On July 31, Neta officially launched its flagship sedan, the Neta S, with a price range of RMB 199,800 - 338,800 as part of Neta's efforts to enter the premium market. Deliveries of the model began on November 30.
On December 13, Neta posted several posters on Weibo suggesting that its electric sports car may not be far from release.
The next day, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology published a catalog of the latest batch of models that will soon be allowed to be sold in China for public comment on December 14. The catalog included the Neta E, revealing what the model will look like as well as its core specifications.
Three versions of the Neta E's two-door sports car made it into the catalog. One version has dual electric motors, both with a maximum power of 170 kW. The other two versions have a single motor with a maximum power of 170 kW. They all have a top speed of 190 kilometers per hour.
The model has a length, width and height of 4,715 mm, 1,979 mm and 1,415 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,770 mm.
Its power battery suppliers include CATL, Eve Energy, battery types include lithium iron phosphate batteries as well as ternary batteries.
On December 15, Neta released several official pictures of the Neta E on Weibo, showing more details of the model.
The specifications of the Neta E sports car are not too high, so it can be expected that its price will not be as high as the current fuel car sports car.
It's worth noting, however, that for sports cars, a low-priced product may not always be successful.
Neta's local counterpart, Leapmotor, began deliveries of the two-door, four-seat coupe S01 in July 2019. The two versions of the model are currently priced at just RMB 129,900 and RMB 149,900 after subsidies, respectively.
The Leapmotor S01 is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 125 kW and a maximum torque of 250 Nm.
Despite being a cheap sports car, the Leapmotor S01 has not attracted too many consumers.
As of December 31, 2021, cumulative deliveries of the Leapmotor S01 were only 2,708 units, according to the company's Hong Kong IPO prospectus filed in March this year.
