In the first month that Li Auto's new Li ONE began deliveries, the company saw strong results. Although deliveries are still lower than those of Nio, insurance registrations surpassed the latter.

Li Auto topped China's new car makers with 7,827 insurance registrations in June, surpassing Nio's 7,777, according to data from the China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC) shared by Li Auto.

Since the only model currently on sale under Li Auto is the Li ONE, an electric car with extended-range technology, the number in the list is also the number of insurance registrations for the Li ONE.

Xpeng Motors came in third, with 6,639 insurance registrations for its models in June.

Neta Automobile, backed by Qihoo 360, China's largest cybersecurity company, came in fourth with 4,583 units.

Notably, Nio remains in first place in terms of June delivery figures.

Nio delivered a record 8,083 vehicles in June, up 116.1 percent year-over-year. This is the first time the company has exceeded 8,000 deliveries in a single month, up 20.4 percent compared to May.

Li Auto delivered a record high of 7,713 Li ONE vehicles in June. This represents a 320.6 percent increase over the same month last year and a 78.4 percent increase over May.

Xpeng delivered a record 6,565 units in June, up 15 percent sequentially from 5,686 units in May and up 617 percent year-over-year.

Back to the CATARC list, Li Auto ranked 10th in June in insurance registrations for luxury brands, just behind Porsche with 8,383 units.

Li Auto added more than 10,000 new orders in June, a record high, the company said earlier this month.

This was made possible by the launch of its new Li ONE. On May 25, Li Auto unveiled the 2021 Li ONE with a starting price of RMB 10,000 ($1,560) higher than the previous version, at RMB 338,000.
