JAC released data showing that its production volume decreases 18.91% year-to-year to 35,200 units in May, while the sales volume decreases 24.29% to 36,100 units.

JAC’s sales volume shows a declining trend this year. The sales volumes of commercial vehicles and passenger vehicles reach 21,301 units and 14,812 units respectively in May. JAC passenger SUV shows an opposite trend with the market, with the sales number turning out to be 6,578 units in May. But cars’ performance is different from SUV, with the sales number reaching 3,431 units in May with a year-on-year growth of 140%. MPV show a steady performance of 4,803 units in May. Middle-size buses grow 485% in sales with the same period of last year, but the overall sales also show a declining trend.

Compared by other self-independent brands’ good performances, JAC’s weak sales number seems weird in the hot market. Several reasons may explain it, including the weak brand influence, lack of production competitiveness, infects in designs, quality and production line layouts. Some others believe the unreasonable prices also drive outs potential customers.

JAC’s cooperation with Volkswagen in alternative energy market seems beneficial to JAC, which could boost its developments in some degrees. But the fierce competition in the market also burdens some pressure on JAC.
