SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Co plans to overweight alternative energy vehicles to increase  Sales proportion

Shanghai, March 24th, ZXZC - SAIC Group's alternative energy strategy shows two changes since the year 2017 of persisting on PHEV vehicles and launching on BEV area on one hand, with PHEV models focusing on Shanghai market and BEV products marching on Beijing market on the other hand.

Although alternative energy vehicles met a bad market at the beginning of year, the industry is still optimistic on the whole year's performance. Auto companies also adjusted their new annual target in 2017. “This year, SAIC passenger vehicle models Roewe and MG will challenge the annual target of 600,000 units, with 100,000 units of which are alternative energy vehicles.” Zheng Rongqing, person in charge of SAIC PR Department said on an interview.

The new target shows a five-times growth compared with 2016's 20,000 units’ annual sales volume, accounting for 1/5 of total sales. The increasing proportion shows that alternative energy vehicles are lifted to a new strategic height in SAIC Group.

SAIC Passenger vehicles accomplished monthly sales of 1,973 units in February, with a 37% month-to-month growth. The total sales from January to February reach 3,410 units, still largely lagging behind the 100,000 units' target. However, SAIC still has great confidence in achieving the target.

SAIC's main force model Roewe e550 sells 1,122 units in February with a month-to-month growth of 17.4%, ranking champion among all single PHEV models. The newly launched Internet-alternative-energy SUV Roewe eRX5 also sells more than 600 units. It's revealed that eRX5 is expected to become another main force model among alternative energy area.

Besides, SAIC is also accelerating its product layout in Beijing market. It plans to name ERX5 BEV SUV as the key product in marching on Beijing area. The model will begin its sales in Beijing market since May, with another two BEV models will be launched in 2018.
