China Will Establish the Automobile Inspection and Maintenance System to Promote Energy Saving and Emission Reduction

Shanghai, March 24th, ZXZC - On March, 24th , spokesman of the Ministry of Transport Wu Chungeng said at a news conference that in order to enhance the "health status" of motor vehicles in whole society and strengthen the automobile exhaust governance, contributing to the improvement of air quality, China is studying the practical automobile inspection and maintenance system.

Wu Chungeng said this year the government will take steps in three aspects to promote energy saving and emission reduction work: structural reduction, strengthen the management of emission reduction measures and enhance the technical level of emission reduction.

In terms of passenger traffic, the government give priority to public transport, encourage slow-moving traffic and promote green travel; in terms of freight transport, the government promote multimodal transport, trailer transport and common distribution; at the same time, improve highway electronic toll collection system (ETC), reduce energy consumption and pollution discharge by enhancing the operating efficiency of transportation.

As for the management of emission reduction measures, China has set up the ship emission control area to strengthen the control of ship emissions of air pollutants.

In the aspect of emission reduction technology, our country has issued implementation views on accelerating the development and application of new energy vehicles in the transportation industry, make it clearly that in 2020, there will be 200 thousand new energy city buses and totally 100 thousand new energy taxi and city logistics distribution vehicles. Promote the liquefied natural gas and shore power technology in the ship and port and construct wind dust facilities in dry bulk terminal.

According to the figures, since the operation of the vehicle fuel consumption access system in 2009, the cumulative reduction of fuel consumption reaches 980 tons and the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions reaches 3200 tons.
