SUVs, sports cars and EVs in spotlight at Detroit auto show
SUVs, sports cars, electric vehicles and big pick-up trucks highlighted the press day of this year's North American International Auto Show starting from Monday in Detroit, Michigan.
A couple of car models were unveiled before the start of the show, including the electric vehicle concept SUV of Chinese automaker Guangzhou Automobile Group Motor Co Ltd (GAC Motor).
At a press conference following the unveiling, GAC said it hopes to enter the US market in the first half of 2020.
Other big names planning to launch models include Ford, Infiniti, Lexus, Hyundai, Kia, Fiat, Toyota, Nissan, General Motors, and Volkswagen.
The auto show will open to the public from Jan 19 through 27.
From 2020, the show will switch to June to escape the cold weather and show off more products outdoors, including autonomous vehicles, according to an AP report.
