QUITO - FAW Group Corporation, one of China's largest State-owned vehicle manufacturers, showcased its range of models for the Ecuadorian market over the weekend.

A leader in heavy-duty vehicle sales in Asia, FAW is looking to expand exports to Ecuador, where it unveiled four tractor trailers and dump trucks at Quito's Expo Center.

The latest versions of these heavy vehicles are tougher and more efficient than ever before, and poised to help Ecuador's productive industry, the company said.

"The FAW Group will promote the sale of heavy trucks (in Ecuador), letting China's best trucks contribute to the country's economic construction," FAW's representative Si Xueqiang said.

The company exports a large proportion of its output in parts and pieces to be assembled in the destination markets, a factor that gives it an edge over the competition.

Gabriela Grijalva, the company's sales manager in Ecuador, said FAW plans to have dealerships in Quito and Guayaquil, the country's leading cities.

The first four tractor trailer and dump truck models are already available in Guayaquil, the country's leading port and largest city.

Another eight models are expected to arrive in Ecuador by July, said Grijalva.
