SAIC Capacity Will Reach 400,000, Roewe RX5 Shortens Pickup Period

At present, SAIC Motor has two production bases: Shanghai Harbor and Nanjing Pukou, the total production capacity of which reaches 400,000 units per year. According to SAIC insiders, Zhengzhou plant will mainly produce Internet and new energy vehicles. Roewe 350, Roewe 360 and some models of MG will also be produced in Zhengzhou plant. RX5, i6, and MG ZS will still be produced in Nanjing and Shanghai.

Driven by the new generation of products like Roewe RX5, SAIC enjoys a new growth point. Cumulative sales in 2016 was nearly 322,000 units, a year-on-year increase of more than 89%. Wang Xiaoqiu said that sales target of Roewe products in 2017 is 490,000 vehicles, including new energy products 100,000 units and passenger vehicles 600,000 units.

Roewe i6 has been launched on February 17th. MG ZS - small SUV will be launched on March 4th. According to SAIC planning, besides electric version of Roewe RX5, plug-in hybrid and pure electric version of Roewe i6 and MG ZS will also be launched. In addition, a medium SUV with 7 seats, which is positioned higher than RX5, is also in SAIC’s plan. This means Roewe and MG will launch more than 9 new models. As for the product lineup, it includes small SUV, compact SUV, and medium SUV. In addition, it covers the field of new energy, which will meet the needs of most consumers.
