Changan Ford’s 5th factory put into production, increasing 200,000 units’ capacity
The increasing sales volume enlarges Changan Ford’s capacity demand. It started its 5th factory project in 2015, which has been put into production recently with a total capacity of over 1.4m units. The 5th factory, located in Harbin, will produce Focus and other models under Changan Ford, lifting the overall manufacturing capacity.
Changan Ford’s 1st, 2ed and 3th factory were put into production in the year 2004, 2012, 2014 respectively in Chongqing, and the 4th factory, located in Hangzhou, was also put into production in 2015. The total annual capacity of the three factories located in Chongqing reaches 1.15m units, while the Hangzhou factory has an annual capacity of 250,000 units. It’s predicted that the 5th factory will have an annual capacity of 200,000 units. The total annual capacity of Changan Ford is expected to reach 1.6m units in the future.
Changan Ford has annual sales of nearly 1m units in 2016 with a year-to-year growth of 14%. The increasing sales also stimulate the expansion of capacity. According to previous plan, the Harbin factory will produce two models named C346 and I06, which are Ford New Focus and a joint-venture self-independent brand model respectively.
According to the “2020” innovative strategy released by Ford previously, Ford will invest USD 1.8b in China to support local R&D and new technology introduction from 2016 to 2020. Besides, it guarantees to launch 20 new models in two joint-venture companies.
