Borgward entered the Chinese market in 2016. Although it’s not a long time until now, the sales volume has achieved a significant growth. Borgward’s (China) EVP Chen Weixu said to the media including Netcom about thier plans of 2017: Borgward will launch three new types of products in 2017 in China. They are BX5, BX6 and BX7-e-motion. In addition, Borgward’s current signing dealers are more than 140 and will be up to 200 in 2017. Borgward will focus on products and dealers to challenge higher sales in 2017. 

3 new types of cars in 2017

In accordance with the next plan of Borgward, they will launch a variety of new cars including the electric vehicles in the next few years in China. Chen Weixu said: "We will launch three new models in 2017, including BX7EV, BX5 and BX6". The BX5 mass production version which made its full debut in this year's Guangzhou Auto Show will be put into the market in the first half year of 2017. We will provide 1.8T models in earlier stage and smaller displacement of 1.4T models are expected to launch in July this year.

Borgward BX5 has been showed in Guangzhou Auto Show in 2016 and will be unveiled the price in the first half year of 2017. Another Borgward BX6 mass production version will be officially listed in 2017. At the same time, the other three models are expected to be pure electric vehicles or sport utility vehicles. In addition, we can see from the product planning that in 2019, Borgward is expected to launch a versionof MPV and in 2020, it will probably launch roadsters and a model of Coupe.

Expand the dealer network

As for distribution of dealers, Borgward cars began to enter the Chinese market in 2016 and it has been covered a certain areas nowadays. Borgward’s first product--BX7 has been getting a lot of orders since it came into the market in 2016. Borgward will rapidly promote the construction of distribution stores in order to expand the sales volume. With regard to the sales channels, Borgward (China) Executive Vice President Chen Weixu spoke at the communication meeting: "In 2017,we will develop 200 dealerships to bring about full coverage. "

Accelerate capacity expansion in China

After the return of Borgward, their first model BX7 has been listed. The new vehicles are produced by Beijing Borgward factory which covers an area of 1.1 million square meters in Miyun Economic Development Zone. The first phase of capacity is 160,000 units per year and the highest capacity of second phase can be 360,000 units per year. In November 18th, 2016, Germany Borgward Automotive Group and Jiaxing Municipal Government signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in Hangzhou Great Hall of the People. A Major Automotive Industrial Park Project of total investment of more than 20 billion RMB officially settled in Jiaxing Economic and Technological Development Zone.

The project is implemented in three phases. The first one is a project to build high-end automatic transmission. The second phase is NEC new energy project which includes renewable energy projects of new energy battery, motor and controller, electronic control system and automotive electronics. The third phase is Borgward vehicle project which relys on German Car Industry 4.0 Standard. Borgward plans to develop the traditional power and new energy power at the same time which covers the entire SUV and sedan models by two product platforms of BSP-T(Medium) and BSP-S(small) . It plans to be completed by 2020.
