Chinese carmaker GAC Motor, based in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province, unveiled its latest MPV M8 on Tuesday to meet the growing demand for luxury MPVs in the domestic market.
The new edition, called Grand Master series, features more Chinese culture in its design, advanced technology and a more luxurious configuration.
Market orders for the new M8 have exceeded 12,000 units in less than a month since presales of the vehicle was launched in October, according to the company.
“From following to leading the market, M8 has proved a success in the Chinese luxury route for high-end domestically-made vehicles,” said Zhang Yuesai, president of GAC Motor.
The new edition includes five models, with a guidance price ranging from 269,800 yuan ($37,200) to 342,800 yuan, providing two fueling options and a dual engine.
Since its first edition was launched five years ago, M8 has been a leader in the domestic MPV market for 37 consecutive months, realizing total sales of more than 200,000, according to the company.
