Aion unveils new SUV for young buyers
Chinese electric carmaker Aion launched the Y Younger on Tuesday, as the latest and most affordable member of the popular Y family.
The model, available in one variant, has a sporty look like other members of the family, featuring the wing-shaped headlights.
It measures 4,535 mm in length, 1,870 mm in width and 1,650 mm in height, with its wheelbase reaching 2,750 mm.
In terms of performance, the Y Younger sports a single e-motor, which generates a maximum output of 100 kW and a top torque of 176 Nm.
It has a 51.9 kWh battery pack that enables the vehicle to run for 430 km on one charge.
Analysts say the model will woo more young car buyers away from gasoline models which are losing steam in China, the world’s largest vehicle market.
As one of the best-selling Chinese electric car brands, Aion sold 30,086 vehicles in February, up 253 percent year-on-year.
In the first two months, its deliveries totaled 40,292 units, up 64 percent year-on-year.
The China Passenger Car Association said on Tuesday that overall sales of new energy vehicles in February could reach 500,000 units, up 60 percent year-on-year.
