Chinese electric carmaker Avatr launched the single-electric motor version of its Avatr 11 SUV on Friday.

The new offering is expected to consolidate its leading position in the high-end electric SUV segment in China.

New vehicle registrations of the Avatr 11 totaled 1,443 units from March 1 to 19, sitting atop the list of electric SUVs priced over 300,000 yuan ($43,615) in the country.

The new version, available in two variants, features Huawei's smart driving solutions, which will be updated over the air.

It features 34 sensors for smart driving, including three pieces of lidar and 13 high-definition cameras.

The company said the new version adopts the same smart driving solutions and hardware as its twin-electric motor version.

The single-motor version also sports Huawei's DriveONE electric drive, which generates a maximum output of 230 kW that enables the sprint from zero to 100 km/hour in six seconds.

The two variants of the new version have different battery packs, which give them a range of 600 km and 705 km respectively.

Established in 2018, Avatr is backed by State-owned carmaker Changan, Chinese technology giant Huawei and Chinese battery maker CATL.
