China's Jetour looks to explore deeper in global markets

Jetour has attracted over 200 partners to its booth at the ongoing Shanghai auto show, stepping up the Chinese SUV brand's efforts to go global.

The brand, a subsidiary of Chery, started to export vehicles in 2019. Now its vehicles are available in 35 countries and regions including via over 400 dealerships.

Jetour is showcasing a number of latest models at the Shanghai auto show. Of them is the T2, which has both gasoline and plug-in hybrid powertrain options. The model is expected to hit the global market this year.

Another highlight is the Dashing i-DM. The model can generate a maximum output of 240 kW and a top torque of 545 Nm, with its range hitting over 1,000 km.

China's automobile exports registered strong expansion in the first quarter of this year, industry data shows.

A total of 994,000 vehicles were exported in this period, soaring 70.6 percent from a year ago, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

Last year, China overtook Germany as the world's second-largest exporter, shipping overseas over 3.1 million vehicles.
