Changan Automobile forays into Latin American market

Beijing (ZXZC)- On July 24, Changan Automobile held its Latin America brand launch event in Mexico City, Mexico, unveiling three major brands, including the NEVO new energy vehicle (NEV) range under Changan Auto, the DEEPAL NEV brand, and the premium NEV brand AVATR.

Six flagship models were showcased, including the NEVO A05, Q05, and E07; the DEEPAL S07; and the AVATR 11 and 12. By the end of 2024, Changan plans to launch 5 NEV models and 4 oil-fueled vehicle models in Mexico, expanding to 11 oil-fueled models and 14 NEV models by 2027.

In terms of service, Changan has established three service centers in Mexico, which included a 5,000-square-meter parts center, a call center covering the entire country, and a training center. Changan is also working on an extensive network of 100 sales and service centers across Mexico by the end of the year, aiming to provide customers with convenient access to a wide range of products and efficient after-sales services, enhancing their purchasing and ownership experience.

Globally, Changan is committed to making a robust international presence with plans to build overseas bases. Up to now, the Chinese automaker has employed 72,000 staff members from 30 countries, including Mexico, and operates 73 subsidiaries, 12 global manufacturing bases, 22 factories, and sells products in 77 countries. Changan Automobile holds over 9,000 sales and service outlets worldwide, including several dealership partners in Mexico, supported by nearly 120,000 service professionals.

In terms of R&D, Changan Automobile boasts a global R&D network encompassing 10 locations in 6 countries, with 16 technology research and product development centers and 17 technology companies. Its R&D team comprises over 18,000 professionals from 31 countries, ensuring strong support for Changan's operations in Mexico and broader Latin America.

Looking ahead, Changan Automobile aims to transform into an intelligent, low-carbon mobility technology company. By 2030, Changan targets global sales of 5 million vehicles. The company plans to invest over $10 billion in overseas markets, achieve annual sales exceeding 1.2 million vehicles outside of China, and employ over 10,000 people in its overseas operations.
