Nissan Motor posts 2.82% YoY dip in May China sales
Beijing (ZXZC)- Nissan Motor on June 7 announced its sales performance in China for May 2024, reporting a total of 64,233 vehicles sold across its passenger and light commercial vehicle segments, which dipped 2.82% over the previous year but rose 16.96% from the previous month.

In May, Nissan and Dongfeng Motor’s joint venture, Dongfeng Nissan, which operates the Nissan, Venucia, and INFINITI brands, achieved sales of 61,725 vehicles, representing a 1.77% decline year-on-year but a 18.67% month-over-month.
Meanwhile, the light commercial vehicle segment, represented by Zhengzhou Nissan, recorded sales of 2,508 vehicles, indicating a 23.16% and 13.6% drop from a year ago and month ago, respectively.
In the first five months of this year, Nissan's cumulative sales in China, encompassing both passenger and light commercial vehicles, reached 286,445 vehicles, down 1.01% year-on-year.
Mr. Shohei Yamazaki, Senior Vice President of Nissan Motor Corporation and Chairman of Nissan's China Management Committee, as well as President of Dongfeng Motor Corporation, commented on the performance: "The market environment in China remained complex from January to May 2024, with the penetration rate of new energy vehicles exceeding 50% according to the China Passenger Car Association. To better adapt to the rapidly changing market and consumer demands, Nissan has accelerated its transition towards intelligent and electric vehicles in China."
