Geely Automobile announces 741% YoY spike in May 2024 PHEV sales
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Geely Automobile Holdings Limited (“Geely Automobile”or the “Group”), a prominent player in the automotive industry, has announced impressive sales figures for May 2024. The Group's total sales volume reached 160,658 vehicles in the month, marking a year-on-year increase of 38% compared to the same period last year.
Breaking down the numbers, the Geely brand sold 120,264 vehicles in May, a 30% jump from the previous year. Notably, the young new energy vehicle (NEV) series Galaxy contributed 14,193 units to this figure, underscoring its rapid acceptance in the market.
The premium electric vehicle brand ZEEKR saw remarkable growth, with sales soaring by 115% to 18,616 units last month. LYNK & CO, another significant brand under Geely Automobile, achieved a sales volume of 21,778 units in May, a substantial 50% jump from last year, demonstrating its strong market traction.

In terms of vehicle types within the NEV sector, the Group's focus on electric mobility is evident. Sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) totaled 34,190 units in May, representing a 63% year-on-year spike. Additionally, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) saw an extraordinary year-on-year soar of 741%, with sales reaching 24,483 units. All in all, Geely Automobile sold 58,673 NEVs in May, representing a remarkable surge of around 146% over a year earlier.
The Group's export performance also showed a significant upward trend. It exported 36,890 vehicles in May, a 68% hike compared to the same period last year.
