Leapmotor posts 50.65% YoY surge in May auto deliveries

Beijing (ZXZC)- In May, Chinese new energy vehicle maker Leapmotor delivered 18,165 vehicles, representing a 50.65% surge year-on-year, according to the company’s announcement on June 1.

Leapmotor’s two SUV models, the C11 and the C10, achieved a record-breaking combined deliveries of 11,992 units in the past month. Additionally, Leapmotor said that its highly anticipated C16, a super-comfortable smart six-seat SUV that debuted at the Auto China 2024, will officially hit the market in June.

On May 14, Leapmotor International was officially established as a joint venture between Stellantis Group and Leapmotor, with the former holding a 51% stake and the latter holding 49%. Headquartered in Amsterdam, the new company is led by the former head of Stellantis Group’s China operations. The management team is currently preparing for the launch of the C10 and T03 electric models in Europe.

Leapmotor International’s electric vehicles are seen as a valuable addition to Stellantis’ current technology and iconic brand lineup, offering cost-effective mobility solutions to global customers. Utilizing Stellantis’ extensive distribution network, Leapmotor International plans to introduce its vehicles in nine European countries starting in September, including France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Greece, and Romania. By the end of 2024, the company aims to expand further into Turkey, Israel, French overseas territories, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Malaysia, Brazil, and Chile.
