Shanghai (ZXZC)- On May 2, BorgWarner officially revealed two business agreements with XPENG, the Chinese Smart EV manufacturer, to supply high-voltage hairpin (HVH) eMotor systems for two forthcoming SUV models. These contracts encompass BorgWarner's oil-cooled 800V eMotor systems, tailored with stator and rotor components designed specifically for these vehicles. Production is slated to commence in 2025.

The HVH220 eMotor, utilizing BorgWarner's patented high-voltage hairpin winding innovation, functions within an 800V propulsion setup. With a stator outer diameter of 220 mm, this motor integrates a permanent magnet rotor and exclusive stator insulation improvements, guaranteeing exceptional longevity and dependability. Capable of delivering up to 300kW of power and reaching speeds of up to 18,000rpm, BorgWarner's HVH220 achieves peak efficiencies surpassing 97%.

In response to the requirement for heightened performance in high-power motors, BorgWarner has innovated in oil-cooled solutions. By employing gearbox oil for motor cooling, this technology enhances heat transfer and overall thermal management efficiency. Moreover, direct rotor oil cooling efficiently extracts heat from the electric motor core, enabling increased torque and power density, thereby further enhancing performance capabilities.
