Beijing (ZXZC)- On January 29, Dongfeng Motor Corporation (DFMC) signed a specialized agreement with the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone, deepening their strategic cooperation to jointly build a global innovation center, which will also serve as the global innovation center for DFMC.

This collaboration aims to leverage the strengths of both entities, fostering more profound and extensive cooperation to accelerate the transformation of Dongfeng Motor’s Wuhan base into a hub for intelligent electric vehicles. The partnership is poised to contribute to Wuhan becoming the core hub for the next generation of the automotive industry in Central China.

Under its strategic plans, DFMC is set to implement a "Three-Year Transformation and Upgrade Action" to advance the new energy vehicle development. This involves integrating the group's R&D systems and resources, emphasizing the creation of the group’s global innovation center. Concurrently, DFMC will collaborate with leading companies in new energy and intelligent connected vehicles to establish a high-profile innovation talent hub.

Looking ahead, DFMC will increase investment in technology R&D, enhance the proportion of independent business R&D, and strengthen efforts in fundamental, forward-looking, and software technologies. The goal is to control core technologies in new energy vehicles, intelligent connected systems, fostering the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone as the cradle of original technology and a modern industrial cluster for the next generation of automobiles. 

Additionally, DFMC aims to optimize talent structure, quality, and distribution, with a target to have technology talents account for 18% of the company’s roster by 2026, cultivating a cadre of industry-leading technology experts.
