GAC Group sees new vehicle sales in Jan. 2022 rise 9.16% YoY
GAC Group said on Tuesday it sold 237,232 vehicles last month, representing a 9.16% growth over the year-ago period. As of Jan. 2022, the auto group had scored a year-on-year increase in monthly sales for three straight months.
Of the new vehicles sold in January, 19,121 and 37,834 units were new energy and energy-saving vehicles, up 115.21% and 72.95% from the previous year.
For the month of January, production volume of the Guangzhou-headquartered group jumped 13.96% year on year to 218,613 units, including 17,294 new energy vehicles +96.08% YoY) and 36,197 energy-saving vehicles +113.22%).
Except GAC FCA and GAC Mitsubishi, other subsidiaries all scored year-on-year growth in Jan. 2022 sales. GAC Toyota topped others by selling 99,900 vehicles, while GAC AION was the fastest-growing one.

Notably, GAC Toyota put two heavyweight models—the Frontlander compact SUV and the Venza mid-size SUV—onto the market in early January 2022. The expanded product matrix is expected to help the joint venture hit an annual sales target of 1 million units in 2022.
GAC AION also greeted a new product, namely, the 2022 AION S PLUS, last month. Coming with four trim levels, the refreshed model features a higher level of intelligence than the old one.
