As the automaker's first model positioned as a high-performance GT (grand tourer), the polestar 1 is driven by a hybrid power system that pumps out 600PS (around 441kW) and 1000N·m of peak torque and boasts a 150-km range in EV-only mode.

Since the presale of the Polestar 1 started from March, the orders received have already gotten beyond the annual capacity of 500 units. Momentum in the development of the Polestar 1 has increased with the production of the first series of road-going verification prototype (VP) cars in Sweden. Besides, Polestar has undertaken the first series of crash tests, which represented the first time that the Volvo Car Group has assessed the strength of a carbon fiber reinforced polymer body in a real crash situation.

Moreover, the automaker plans to build 20 Polestar Spaces in China by 2020 as part of Polestar's effort to build a global network that will include around 60 Spaces by mid-2020. Customers are allowed to interact with product experts, view cars and have test-drive on spot.
