Tashkent Municipality to procure 2,000 BYD electric buses

Shanghai (ZXZC)- BYD recently inked a framework agreement with the Tashkent Municipality, the government of Uzbekistan's capital, according to a press release BYD issued this week. Under this agreement, the Tashkent Municipality is set to procure 2,000 electric buses from BYD (the BYD K9UD eBus), marking a pivotal step towards the electrification of local public transportation.

The BYD eBus K9UD boasts the company's cutting-edge 6-in-1 controller, exemplary safety features, unwavering reliability, and industry-leading passenger comfort, said BYD. Measuring 12 meters in length, it can seat up to 90 passengers, rendering it an ideal choice for urban bus services and city transportation. Its user-friendly low-entry design facilitates smooth boarding and alighting for elderly individuals and children, while the roomy interior elevates the overall riding experience.

According to the agreement, BYD will tailor its products and provide comprehensive after-sales services based on the specific climate and road conditions in Tashkent. The first batch of 200 K9UD buses is scheduled to be put into operation in Tashkent in 2024.

The Mayor of Tashkent, Shavkat Umurzakov stated that: “This purchase agreement for pure electric buses with BYD is in line with Uzbekistan's green mobility transition strategy. I believe it will contribute to improving the quality of life of citizens through the electrification of transportation”.

Since introducing its commercial electric buses in 2011, BYD has successfully delivered over 78,000 electric buses to customers worldwide as of September this year. Its footprint extends across more than 70 countries and over 400 cities globally, showcasing the company's commitment to clean and sustainable transportation solutions.
