Dongfeng Motor Group faces double-digit YoY downturn in August 2023
Beijing (ZXZC)- In August 2023, Dongfeng Motor Group Company Limited (Dongfeng Motor Group) saw a double-digit year-on-year decline in sales, according to the company’s report released on Monday.

In the past month, Dongfeng Motor Group sold 181,420 vehicles, representing a 13.44% drop from a year ago. Among which, 153,940 units were passenger cars, slipping 19.44% year over year.
In the first eight months of this year, the group’s cumulative sales volume amounted to 1,290,362 vehicles, down 23.29% compared to that of the previous year. Year-to-date passenger car sales summed up to 1,062,199 units, declining 27.6% from the year-ago period.
Dongfeng Motor Group’s new energy vehicle sales amounted to 31,548 units in August, decreasing 14.16% year on year. In the Jan.-Aug. span, the carmaker posted a 7.3% dip in new energy vehicle sales, which stood at 181,935 units.
Sales of Dongfeng Motor Corporation Passenger Vehicle Company (DFPV), the subsidiary of the group that owns the brand Dongfeng Aeolus, came in at 11,261 vehicles last month, compared to the 17,325 units sold in the year-ago period. In the first eight months of this year, DFPV sold 71,709 vehicles in total, which plunged 38.79% year over year.
In August, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën sold 8,028 vehicles, representing a 20.39% fall from a year ago. In the Jan.-Aug. period, cumulative sales of the Sino-French joint venture summed up to 57,251 vehicles, down 25.14% year on year.
Meanwhile, Dongfeng Nissan (including Nissan, Venucia, and INFINITI brands) sold a total of 59,617 vehicles last month, indicating a 30.12% downturn year-on-year. The company's other Sino-Japanese joint venture, Dongfeng Honda, faced a 15.76% year-on-year decline in August sales, which came in at 59,025 units.
