Honda Motor sees China retail sales dwindle 25.1% YoY in Aug. 2023

Shanghai (ZXZC)- In August 2023, Honda Motor recorded a retail sales volume of 102,257 units in China, representing a 25.1% decline compared to the year-ago period, but still reflecting a 14% increase from the previous month, according to the company's official sales data.

For the first eight months of 2023, Honda Motor's cumulative retail sales in the world's largest auto market amounted to 721,639 units, shrinking 24% from the previous year.

Of the vehicles sold through the Jan.-Aug. period, 147,288 units were electrified products, which were composed of hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and battery electric vehicles (BEVs).

Looking back to the past seven months of this year, the automaker only scored a year-on-year growth in its China monthly sales in May, but posted a downward movement in the other seven months.

As for update of product lineup, GAC Honda put the new AVANCIER flagship SUV onto the market with its eight trim levels priced between 239,800 yuan and 329,800 yuan.
