Geely Automobile posts 25% YoY surge in August sales

Beijing (ZXZC)- Geely Automobile Holdings Limited (Geely Automobile) saw a double-digit year-on-year growth in monthly sales in August 2023, continuing its strong performance in the automotive market.

In August, Geely Automobile sold a total of 152,626 vehicles, marking a remarkable month-on-month rise of 10% and a year-on-year jump of 24%. Notably, the new energy vehicle segment contributed significantly to these figures, with 47,299 units sold in August, accounting for about 31% of total sales. New energy vehicle sales demonstrated a notable month-on-month growth of 15% and an impressive year-on-year increase of 26%.

The GEELY brand itself achieved outstanding results in August, with sales reaching 118,204 vehicles. This represents a month-on-month growth of 13% and a year-on-year increase of 23%. Across the brand’s entire lineup, the Geely Galaxy L7 model stood out, achieving sales of 11,117 units in August.

The GEOME brand sold 17,836 pure electric vehicles in August, showing a significant month-on-month surge of 42% and a modest year-on-year increase of 2%.

The Lynk & Co brand achieved sales of 18,696 vehicles in August, which rose 9% from the previous month and hiked 24% from the previous year. In the past month, the Lynk & Co 08 model, rolled off the production line and kicked off presale. The model set to officially hit the market on September 8. 

In the electric vehicle sector, the ZEEKR brand stood out with 12,303 units delivered in August. Geely said that ZEEKR is the only electric vehicle brand to achieve continuous month-on-month and year-on-year growth for seven consecutive months. Additionally, ZEEKR’s high-performance sports car variant, the ZEEKR 001 FR, is now officially available for pre-order. 

Regarding exports, Geely Automobile saw 24,713 vehicles exported to overseas markets in August, reflecting a month-on-month growth of 21% and a year-on-year increase of around 26%. The company continues to expand its presence in overseas markets, with the Lynk & Co 09 entering the Asia-Pacific market and the European version of the ZEEKR 001 setting sail for the Netherlands in its first batch of shipments.
