China adds about 31,000 public charging piles in January, up 772.6% YoY

By the end of January 2022, there were 2.731 million charging piles deployed across China, up 59.1% from the same period of 2021, according to the China Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Promotion Alliance EVCIPA).

For the month of January 2022, a total of around 114,000 charging piles +223.5%) were newly built in the country, including 31,000 public piles +772.6% YoY) and 83,000 private ones +162.6% YoY).

The number of public charging piles in the country added up to 1.178 million by the end of Jan. 2022, including 486,000 DC piles, 691,000 AC piles, and 589 DC-AC integrated charging piles, the EVCIPA said after compiling the data reported by members of the alliance.

There were around 31,000 public charging poles newly deployed per month on average within the year ended January 2022.

In terms of the volume of charging stations by January 2022, the top five provinces or direct-administered municipalities were Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai, and Beijing. The top 10 rankings remained the same as that of December 2021.

Regarding the amount of charging stations by January 2022, the top three operators were still TELD, State Grid, and Star Charge.

According to the EVCIPA's data, the EV manufacturer NIO had deployed 743 charging stations by January, 189 more than that of the previous-month period, while Tesla's charging station volume was still 364, indicating no new facility was added last month.

As of January 2022, China had owned a total of 1,386 battery swap stations, 88 of which were newly built last month. By the volume of battery swap stations, the top three provinces or direct-administered municipalities in China were Beijing, Guangdong and Zhejiang.

The top three battery swap station operators in China were still NIO 863 Aulton 416 and Hangzhou First Technology 107) in terms of the station volume by January this year.
