Dongfeng Motor Group faces YoY drop in July auto sales
Beijing (ZXZC)- Dongfeng Motor Group Company Limited (Dongfeng Motor Group) was challenged with a double-digit decline in July auto sales, according to the company’s report released on August 10.

In the past month, Dongfeng Motor Group sold 163,458 vehicles, representing a 31.44% decline from a year ago. Among which, 138,570 units were passenger cars, down 35.9% year on year.
In the first seven months of this year, the group’s cumulative sales volume amounted to 1,108,942 vehicles, dropping 24.69% year over year. Year-to-date passenger car sales summed up to 908,259 units, which decreased 28.8% from the previous year.
Dongfeng Motor Group sold 30,802 new energy vehicles in July, compared to the 30,977 units sold last year. In the Jan.-Jul. period, the carmaker faced a 5.8% dip in new energy vehicle sales, which came in at 150,387 units.
Sales of Dongfeng Motor Corporation Passenger Vehicle Company (DFPV), the subsidiary of the group that owns the brand, Dongfeng Aeolus, stood at 8,074 vehicles in July, which almost halved from that of the previous year. By the end of July, DFPV has sold 60,448 vehicles in 2023, indicating a 39.45% decline year-on-year.
As to the group’s joint venture, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën sold 5,006 vehicles in July, down 50.06% from a year ago. In the Jan.-Jul. period, cumulative sales of the Sino-French joint venture summed up to 49,223 vehicles, slipping 25.86% year on year.
