FAW-Toyota initiates recall of 12,205 bZ3 sedans
Beijing (ZXZC)- FAW-Toyota, a joint venture of FAW Group and Toyota Motor, has filed a recall plan with China’s State Administration for Market Regulation for some of the bZ3 electric vehicles.

The recall is set to begin on July 27, 2023, and it covers a total of 12,205 units of the bZ3 sedans produced between March 13, 2023, and July 5, 2023.
The recall is necessary as certain bZ3 sedans within the specified production period have been found to exhibit a gap between the rear door external handles and the door lock components, attributed to the design and material of the handle lever. In conditions of high temperature and humidity, the lever may experience restricted movement against the door lock rod, leading to the possibility of the lock rod failing to return to its correct position. In extreme cases, the rear doors could remain in a constant status of either locked or unlocked, posing a safety risk.
To rectify the issue and ensure customer safety, FAW-Toyota will provide a free replacement of the improved rear door external handle lever for all affected vehicles, with the addition of supplementary gaskets to eliminate the safety hazard.
As an emergency precautionary measure, owners of the affected vehicles must cease using their cars immediately and promptly contact the nearest FAW-Toyota dealership for inspection and repair once the recall campaign commences.
