GAC Group sees auto sales in H1 2023 edge up 1.14% YoY

Shanghai (ZXZC)- In June 2023, GAC Group produced 231,547 vehicles, representing a slight year-on-year dip of 0.4%, but its auto sales in the month still edged up 0.77% over a year ago to 236,199 units, according to a post on the group’s WeChat account.

In the first six months of this year, GAC accumulated a total production and sales volume of 1,196,904 vehicles and 1,163,022 vehicles, indicating a year-on-year rise of 3.93% and 1.14%, respectively.

GAC Group also reported a sales volume of 236,311 units (+108.51% YoY) for its new energy vehicle (NEV) sector in the first six months of this year, of which 52,544 units (+96.5% YoY) were sold in June alone.

Breaking down the June sales performance by specific subsidiaries, both GAC Honda and GAC Toyota faced a two-digit year-on-year decline with their sales reaching 60,628 units and 87,200 units, respectively. GAC Motor saw its monthly sales jump 25.92% from the previous year to 41,131 units. GAC AION, the company dedicated to electric vehicles, boasted an 86.71% year-on-year spike in its June sales, which stood at 45,013 units.

For the first half of this year, GAC AION was the fastest-growing one, seeing its cumulative sales soar 108.81% year over year to 209,336 units. The year-to-date sales of GAC Honda and GAC Toyota slid 18.89% and 9.48% from the year-ago period, respectively.

There were a total of eight models whose monthly sales in June all exceeded 10,000 units: the CAMRY series (25,898 units), the AION S (22,487 units), the AION Y (20,537 units), the FRONTLANDER (18,299 units), the INTEGRA series (16,382 units), the WILDLANDER series (15,466 units), the BREEZE series (14,051 units), the ACCORD series (11,570 units).
