Beijing (ZXZC)- Changan Automobile recently disclosed the plans of its overseas operations during an investor inquiry that the company aims to expand its global footprint by establishing a Southeast Asian business unit and a European regional headquarters.

In addition, the Chinese automaker will also consider the establishment of regional headquarters in the Americas and Africa. Moreover, Changan Automobile aims to gradually set up at least 20 localized marketing agencies and bring its total overseas market outlet number to over 3,000.

In April 2023, Changan Automobile sold 181,980 vehicles in total, representing a 57.23% surge over a year ago. Among the vehicles sold last month, 22,496 units were new energy vehicles (NEVs) under Changan Automobile's wholly-owned brands, shooting up 111.77% year on year.

Meanwhile, cumulative sales of the automaker’s wholly-owned brands summed up to 671,940 units, climbing 7.99% over the prior-year period. Among the wholly-owned brands’ vehicles sold in the Jan.-Apr. period, 76,922 units were sold in overseas markets to reflect a 16.71% increase from the same period in 2022.
