Japan’s Nidec opens South China Headquarters, R&D Center in Foshan city

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Nidec Corporation, a Japanese manufacturer and distributor of electric motors, on May 18 held an opening ceremony for its South China Headquarters and R&D Center project, according to a post on “Wenhan Lakeside”, an official WeChat account of Foshan city’s authority.

Located in Sanlong Bay, Nanhai District, Foshan city, Guangdong province, the project covers an area of over 6,000 square meters. It will work as the Japanese company's South China headquarters and R&D hub integrating functions such as R&D, project management, marketing, and administration.

The new project will mainly focus on the business of electric drive systems and motion control in the field of electric vehicles and industrial automation. It will be dedicated to promoting Nidec's R&D and manufacturing capabilities in China.

Nidec announced on Apr. 1 the official change of its name in Chinese characters from “日本电产” to “尼得科”. Up until now, it has completed the name replacement for its entire subsidiary in China accordingly.
