Beijing (ZXZC)- In April 2023, Chinese automaker Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. (Changan Automobile) posted a double-digit year-on-year surge in monthly sales.

In the fourth month of 2023, Changan Automobile sold 181,980 vehicles in total, representing a 57.23% surge over a year ago. Among the vehicles sold last month, 22,496 units were new energy vehicles (NEVs) under Changan Automobile's wholly-owned brands, shooting up 111.77% year on year.

In the first four months of this year, Changan Automobile’s cumulative sales volume amounted to 789,788 vehicles, edging up 2.94% from a year ago. Cumulative sales of the automaker’s wholly-owned brands summed up to 671,940 units, climbing 7.99% over the prior-year period. Among the wholly-owned brands’ vehicles sold in the Jan.-Apr. period, 76,922 units were sold in overseas markets to reflect a 16.71% increase from the same period in 2022.

In addition, sales of passenger vehicles under Changan Automobile’s self-owned brands amounted to 508,275 units in the Jan.-Apr. period, jumping 19.2% from the earlier year. 

As to the two joint ventures, Changan Ford and Changan Mazda, a respective 16.51% and 12.77% year-over-year growth were achieved in the two companies’ April sales, which stood at 14,002 units and 3,982 units successively.
